Girls’ Sport at
Loughborough Endowed Schools
We are ambitious at Loughborough Endowed Schools – ambitious for each and every girl to find her own level in physical exercise. We aim to encourage and support each and every one to develop a habit of a healthy lifestyle while they are with us. A healthy lifestyle supports good mental well-being. Making regular physical exercise a part of everyday, we will help set a habit for a lifetime.
The benefits of being fit and healthy are well documented, as is the tendency for girls to decrease their activity levels from the age of 14 years. Studies have proven that keeping active aids concentration and performance in academic work. We understand how important it is for the girls to take time away from their studies to enjoy a dance class, or a hockey match, and our need to provide access to the right equipment and facilities.
We are very aware that what we offer to the girls now will help build their platform for life. Some of our pupils will go on to elite sport, but for the majority we aim to ensure that we produce girls confident in a range of activities, aware of their own responsibility for their physical health, and with soft skills such as teamwork, confidence and resilience, which will help them in later life.
Despite the lack of good indoors facilities, we have built a good reputation for sporting excellence, but we have ambitions to do more. The facilities will allow our teams to improve core strength, which improves performance. We will develop an Elite Sports programme to assist those showing promise, and promote pathways to regional, national and international competitions.
Ambitious? Yes – but with your help, we can complete the facility quickly and begin to widen our programme of healthy living and sporting achievement for all.

“We aim to ensure that every single pupil has a chance to find something that they can either just enjoy or excel at.”
Our new Sports Facility is designed to be an exciting and accessible environment for members of our community to participate in sports and develop their skills and fitness.
Our current facilities will be developed in such a way to motivate our girls to get active and stay active for life.
We are developing a significant multi-sports space which allows for simultaneous activities to take place.
With its own reception and changing area, this modern, flexible environment will appeal to all.
It will also provide a space for whole school and joint-school assemblies – a real challenge across the Foundation.
The fitness suite will contain a state-of-the art range of cardio, strength and group equipment.
This will offer flexibility and multiple exercise options to meet the needs of skills at all levels.
Girls will be encouraged to make use of these facilities before and after school and at lunchtimes.
This large, light space will be used for a wide range of activities including dance and fitness classes.
With more options, we aim to ensure all our girls will discover a physical activity they enjoy and create a habit for life.
Reception and new changing facilities
Updating the tired facilities will encourage our girls to use them more often.
Having a modern, professional entrance will create the right impression to visiting teams, giving LES the profile to match our sporting success.

The Parents’ Associations have a long history of successfully raising funds for items that fees do not cover. With your help by supporting their events every year they have provided valuable resources throughout the schools.
This year the Parents’ Associations of LHS and OLCS are joining forces for their most challenging target yet. Their aim is to support the Foundation in providing all the equipment for the new, exciting, state of the art sports facility that our girls truly deserve.
With support from the LHS PA, OLCS PA, former pupils and staff we have raised a fantastic £28,000 which provides the equipment for the new build sports hall. Thank you to everyone who has supported an event or made a donation so far. Amazing! What a great start.
Following is a list of equipment we are fund raising for. Items start from as little as £36.

If you would like to associate your successful company’s brand with our girls’ outstanding sporting successes, then consider sponsoring a piece of equipment. Your company’s name will be mounted on the chosen piece, and your company will have an entry in our donor thanks communications. This will reach parents, alumni and others across the Foundation.
We would love you to share in and improve upon our successes and help us to equip this new state-of the-art facility, in order that our girls can utilise the space to its maximum potential, undertake independent personal fitness training around school hours and participate in an even broader range of activities.
We require a vast range of items at all price-levels to fit out the sports centre, meaning that everyone can play a part in contributing to the project, regardless of budget. If you would like to sponsor the purchase of a specific piece of equipment or area within the facility, we would be pleased to discuss naming opportunities for your company.
